Insight: Caregiver Cruise

We cruised to Bermuda, June 3-8, 2017!

In Bermuda, our participants and caregivers enjoyed a glass bottom boat tour, visiting the pink sands of Horseshoe Bay, viewing the beautiful coastline from the Fantasea Sightseeing Boat tour, and exploring the city of Hamilton. We also had some time for shopping, sampling rum cake, and of course a little eating and drinking at the Frog and Onion Pub!

We took advantage of all the amenities on the Anthem of the Seas as well. Several participants were selected to participate in a jewelry fashion show, many raced in bumper cars, enjoyed a wine tasting, and took in evening shows at the theater. Joel and Christi, the Insight staff members on the cruise, were the only ones brave enough to try out the roller skating rink!

While everyone enjoyed all the sights and attractions, many said the best part of the cruise was the company and the support.

Day 6: Back to Reality

June 8, 2017

Well, six days has come and gone and our 3rd annual Caregiver Cruise has come to an end. The morning started off with folks finishing up their last minute packing and having a quick bite in the Windjammer before heading to our destination location on the ship. Luckily this year, we were fortunate enough to have the Group Coordinator escort us personally off the ship! I do have to say, this was WAY better than last year!

Once we arrived to the terminal, our luggage was waiting for us, and we hailed a couple of porters to help transport our luggage to the parking lot where our bus arrived shortly thereafter. The timing of the ride back to Northern Virginia was perfect! We made great time and missed all the traffic. The group mainly napped for the first leg of the trip and then after a quick pit stop at the Chesapeake House, the group grabbed some lunch to eat on the bus and we were headed home for the final leg!

We arrived safe and sound at Insight Memory Care Center and after hugs, kisses, laughs and a few tears (of joy) everyone headed on their way. The consensus was: everyone had a wonderful time and wanted to know when the next one was! We told them – the count is on!!! Christi and Joel are already talking about booking IMCC’s 4th Annual Caregiver Cruise next year!

We sincerely hope that everyone on the cruise enjoyed themselves and had a great time. It was our pleasure to be able to provide this service to everyone who came and allow them to escape from their everyday lives for a few days and really enjoy each other, and themselves. As one of our cruisers said “these are the golden moments that I will remember forever.”
