X-WR-CALDESC:There are plenty of good reasons to be physically active. Big
ones include reducing the odds of developing heart disease\, stroke\, and
diabetes. Maybe you want to lose weight\, lower your blood pressure\, prev
ent depression\, or just look better. Here's another one\, which especiall
y applies to those of us experiencing the brain fog that comes with age: e
xercise changes the brain in ways that protect memory and thinking skills.
Studies show regular aerobic exercise\, the kind that gets your heart and
your sweat glands pumping\, appears to boost the size of the hippocampus\
, the brain area involved in verbal memory and learning.\n\n<strong>This c
lass will be held both virtually and in-person in Fairfax.</strong> Please

eries. All sessions are FREE\, and held the second Wednesday of each month

MS CPT CHHC\, Personal Trainer\, Nutritionist</em>\nI like to consider mys
elf a Health and Lifestyle Strategist (think personal trainer meets nutrit
ionist meets healthy lifestyle muse) providing an integrative and function
al approach to health through fitness\, nutrition and lifestyle change.\nA
s a personal trainer\, I found that my clients were increasingly over the
age of 50\, less obsessed with bikini season and more focused on basic sta
bility\, mobility and strength. This point was further driven home by my o
wn mobility issues and a three year journey to resolve\nchronic hip pain.
Something as simple as getting out of the car was unnecessarily painful an
d difficult. As Americans we spend years planning and saving for retiremen
t but give little thought to contributing to our mobility for later years.
As we age we unknowingly lose both mobility and mental acuity little by l
ittle largely because we've become so sedentary or developed a variety of
bad habits. So much so that we are stunned when one day when we have the t
ime and money we can't even walk up the stairs without being winded or in
pain much less run around with grandchildren or remember every day facts.
Because not everyone loves the gym\, I strive to redefine fitness through
relevant\, sustainable and creative programming in order to support my cli
ent’s journey to successfully achieve their goals.\n\n\n&nbsp\;\n<strong><
