 eating social circles in the LGBTQ community while navigating dementia. Be
 ing LGBTQ and living with dementia and/or caring for someone with dementia
  brings many unique challenges to the journey. Join us to discuss the impo
 rtance of creating social circles of support and strategies for doing so. 
 We will also identify community resources to support caring for someone li
 ving with dementia.\n\n<b>This class will be held both virtually and in-pe
 rson in Fairfax.</b> Please select your attendance type when you register.
 \n\nIn-person attendance in Fairfax is limited to 20 participants. The ses
 sion will be held in the Mazawey Education and Support Center\, 3955 Pende
 r Drive\, Suite 100\, Fairfax\, VA 22030.\n\nVirtual attendees will receiv
 e Zoom information prior to the class.\n\nThis program is a part of our mo
 nthly Care Partner Training series. All sessions are FREE\, and held the s
 econd Wednesday of each month from 1:00 to 2:30 pm.\n\n\n\n<b> Presenter <
 /b>\n<i>Carey Candrian\, PhD (she/her)</i>\n\nCarey Candrian is an associa
 te professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the Universit
 y of Colorado School of Medicine. Carey’s research examines how communicat
 ion affects outcomes in healthcare -- and specifically how it impacts olde
 r lesbian\, gay\, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) adults\, and those who c
 are for them. She has spent much of her career investigating how healthcar
 e suffers when patients aren’t able to be open with medical professionals 
 about who and what matters most to them. She is a community-based research
 er working to create more inclusive assisted living communities. She has b
 een an advocate for the routine collection of sexual orientation and gende
 r identity (SOGI) data in hospice. Ultimately her goal is to effect change
  in communication systems and at the policy level so that older LGBT adult
 s receive the support they and their loved ones want\, when they need it m
