Our New Sterling Location Opens its Doors

Programs began at the start of the new year!

Insight Memory Care Center is so excited to announce the opening of Insight Memory Care Center – Sterling, our new early-stage focused center in Loudoun County, VA.

Insight’s increasingly popular Reconnections early stage program was slated to start in Sterling on January 3rd, but mother nature had other ideas - bringing a lot of snow to the whole region that day! Nevertheless, the seven new participants were excited to gather later that week to kick-off the new program.

Offered four days a week, a small group of participants with mild cognitive impairment or in the early stages of a memory impairment are able to come together to participate in brain health activities, creative pursuits, peer support, and fun! A highlight of the program is the true connection that participants can build with others in a similar situation – connection that can often become especially needed as friends and family aren’t always sure how to respond to a dementia diagnosis. The program offers a chance for peer support and socialization that isn’t found in many other places.

This is the second location for Insight’s early stage program. The group has been meeting in Fairfax for over 7 years, operating at capacity and often with a waiting list. “We’re so excited to start this next chapter of the program in Sterling. We know it’s desperately needed, as people who have just received a diagnosis often don’t know where to turn. We’re grateful to serve these families, and work with the entire Loudoun community to provide all the resources needed,” says Anita Irvin, Insight’s Executive Director.

In addition to the Reconnections program, Insight will be offering additional programs for care partners and families at the Sterling location as well. “We know the need goes beyond just the individual with the diagnosis. Care partners and families are impacted as well and can truly benefit from support and guidance as they navigate their journey,” shares Lindsey Vajpeyi, Insight’s Director of Early Stage Programs.

She is excited to begin offering the Mind and Body Workshop this March. “We had been on hiatus with the pandemic, but this program creates real, invaluable connections between families as they find support on this journey together,” Vajpeyi adds. The Mind and Body Workshop is a 4 session program series for both the care partner and the early stage individual to participate, promoting social engagement and peer support, while adjusting to life with a new diagnosis.

While Insight currently offers many community classes and support groups virtually, plans are in place to offer these additional services in Sterling too. To learn more about the programs offered in this space, visit InsightMCC.org/Sterling.

In hopes there won’t be more trouble with the weather, Insight Memory Care Center plans a more formal ribbon cutting for the Sterling center on March 31st, where Loudoun officials and community members alike can come to celebrate this milestone for Insight. Our doors are open!
