A Huge Thank You to the Thanksgiving Project!

A great thanksgiving meal is always something to be thankful for, and Insight Memory Care Center is truly thankful to be a part of the Thanksgiving Project this year!

Several community based organizations came together to provide families with a freshly prepared Thanksgiving meal, refrigerated items, and non-perishable items to enjoy this Thanksgiving. Many thanks to Western Fairfax Christian Ministries, ECHO, United Community, Lorton Community Action Center, Food for Others, Cornerstones, Volunteer Solutions, Meals on Wheels, Fastran, and the Fairfax County Area Agency on Aging for your partnership in bringing the Thanksgiving Project together! In total, 640 meals were prepared and delivered. Insight received 19 of these meals for families who otherwise may have had to forego a Thanksgiving celebration. One family member expressed their gratitude:

Just wanted to share with you, I had a chance to unpack the bag and box of goodies. I don't know who your contact is for the group who gave so generously, but please tell them THANK YOU SO MUCH!! If I didn't know any better, I would think they were looking over my shoulder at my grocery list!! They pretty much got all of my husband’s favorites!! LOL!! YUMMY!!

We will have a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner, and enjoy extras they included! They are too kind!! BLESSINGS to them ALL!

A diagnosis of dementia might not change holiday celebrations for some, but for many families, traditions have to be altered as they prioritize their loved one’s care needs. Receiving an already prepared meal can make a tremendous difference. Another family member shared:

I am in tears. Happy, Happy Tears!! We r so overwhelmed with this generosity!!

This must be something like what Jesus did with the hungry crowd of 5,000!, with the loaves & fish. The 2 plates just kept multiplying!!

You know how God works in mysterious ways? Well, the one friend had to cancel taking my husband to the grocery store today, our neighbor canceled yesterday & another friend had to cancel taking my husband tomorrow. When I called last week to order a Turkey meal from Harris Teeter, they said they were already sold out. So what we considered to be a BUMMER turned into a Miracle for a Joyous & Thankful Thanksgiving enjoying this delicious food. Still, what did we do to deserve this?

I am still crying Happy, Happy Tears. Again, this is so unbelievable that this is happening!! And to US!! It is like winning the Lottery!!!

Many thanks from Insight and all of our families that received meals. We are all truly grateful this Thanksgiving to be part of such a wonderful community!
