This past year, our Sterling Reconnections Program had the privilege of participating in Loudoun County Public Schools' “Job for a Day” Program — and what an inspiring experience it turned out to be!

Have you heard the saying "many hands make light work"? Since opening our Early Stage Center in Sterling in 2022, we have certainly found this to be the case! With the help of dedicated staff, volunteers, friends, and community partners, our Sterling location has truly bloomed over the last three years. Learn more about what we've been up to!

Dementia is the loss of cognitive functioning, the loss of the ability to think, remember, or reason, as well as loss of behavioral abilities, to an extent that it interferes with daily life. There are over 200 types of dementia, including neurodegenerative disorders, vascular dementia, and other conditions that can cause dementia-like symptoms. These disorders all fall under the “dementia umbrella.”

Is your parent or loved one living alone independently…but you’re noticing changes in memory, and you’re beginning to question their movements or safety? Smart home technology could give you a window into their daily life and help keep your parent living independently.

If you spend a day at Insight, you’ll see participants engaged in a variety of activities, everything from art to exercise to discussion groups. What you may not see, behind the scenes, is all the planning that goes into these activities - or recreation therapy. Beyond just filling the calendar with fun activities - which is definitely part of the job! - activities are designed to be person-centered and provide therapeutic benefits for each of our participants.

Project Lifesaver clients wear a wrist or ankle band that emits a silent radio frequency. When caregivers notify the Sheriff ’s Office that their loved one is missing, specially-trained Sheriff’s deputies respond to the area and conduct a search with state-of-the-art locating equipment. Project Lifesaver has a 100 percent success rate in locating wandering children and adults and bringing them safely home.
