Coming to your living room - Insight at Home!

We are excited to announce that our newest program, Insight at Home, is now being offered 5 days a week! Insight at Home is a virtual program that has connected people across states, counties - and living rooms! - to develop meaningful human connection and engagement.

The program was born from our inability to meet in person due the pandemic, but has developed into a vital component of Insight Memory Care Center. Virtual programming, once thought to be a temporary substitute to Insight’s in-person services, now remains a fixture of connection and structure to reach people living with dementia where they are.

The ability to really get to know one another and develop relationships over the computer has been the biggest surprise to most of us. The deep meaningful questions and concerns shared by members of the group to one another has built a cohesive unit of support and friendship for those that would otherwise have been isolated in their homes.

One participant shares, “We look forward to it – all of us. You’re important to us. It’s reached a group of people that are usually forgotten.”

The purpose of Insight at Home is to bring the meaningful cognitive stimulation and socialization – previously only offered in-person in our center - to people living with dementia everywhere.  Participants enjoy worksheets and brain fitness activities to complete at home in their off time, and enjoy conversation and guided programming when they are a part of the live program. Discussion topics range from Willie Nelson, Leonard DaVinci, Woodstock, Shakespeare and the History of the Empire State Building. The beauty of the program is that it is built for the participants themselves, and meant to honor their interests and passions, both new and old.

We continually check in with our families, and recently all of our families agree that the program has benefited their loved one and a majority believe their loved feels more connected to others because of this group.

We are honored to continue serving families in innovative ways. If you’d like to join us online, please contact Katelyn Sloan at katelyn.sloan@insightmcc.org or learn more at InsightMCC.org.

"I like that IMCC focuses on dementia-related problems and provides a focal point for families to network and socially interact in coping with dementia. It provides a community that helps us in our struggle."
